Dog Training and Behavior Modification Services

We offer several distinct training programs designed to match your schedule, budget, and meet your dog training and/or behavior needs. All of our services teach you how to be an effective leader and how to better communicate with your dog on and off leash. Teaching you about dog psychology and how to create a great relationship with your dog is our passion. We will work with all breeds, all ages, and all behavior issues.

We will teach your dog to:

  • Come when called (on or off leash!)
  • Sit or down…and stay there for as long as you want!
  • Walk politely, by your side, on a loose leash!
  • Be housebroken.
  • Focus and Pay attention when asked!

Your dog will learn NOT to:

  • Jump up on people
  • Lunge at other dogs
  • Bolt through doors
  • Bite or growl at people
  • Bark incessantly
  • Chew on your property
  • Guard food or other possessions
  • Climb on furniture you do not wish them to be on
  • Steal food and object off countertops and tables

Private Lessons (hourly)

These lessons are great for clients who need some quick tips and advice. Lessons can be conducted at The Folsom Dog Resort, in the comfort of your own home, dog parks, city parks, state parks, or other public places. This is also great for past clients who need a re-fresher. We will answer questions, evaluate, give training tips, and assist you with your dog.

Private One-on-One Lesson Packages

This package includes an initial training session at your home or at The Folsom Dog Resort, follow-up lessons at The Resort, and phone support as needed. We will assess your dog’s training and behavior needs and teach you how to train and modify unwanted behavior.

Daily Training

This program is offered at The Folsom Dog Resort, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. You drop your dog off at school in the morning and pick up at the end of the day. We will train your dog for you while you are at home, work, or enjoying the day. Your dog will learn basic obedience commands like sit, down, stay, heel, and come—on leash or off leash depending on your needs. After your dog has completed the program we will schedule a private lesson with you for approximately 2 hours so we can teach you everything we have taught your dog. Follow up lessons and phone support are included in this program.

Training Camp

This is a great program if you are going on vacation or need a vacation from your dog. We teach on leash and/or off leash control as well as address specific behavior issues. We will tailor the program to meet you and your dog’s needs. Your dog will enjoy the benefits of our overnight stay package – including a private temperature controlled indoor room, fresh water, a soft bed mat. At the end of Training Camp you will meet with us for approximately 2 hours so we can teach you everything we have taught your dog. Follow up lessons and phone support are included in this programs.

Puppy Training

New Puppies can bring tremendous joy, though they can also be challenging. We can help you introduce your bundle of energy to children, or other pets, establish sleeping arrangements, develop a feeding plan, introduce a leash, implement house training and tackle any other challenges you encounter. Knowing how to build a healthy long term relationship begins with establishing rules and managing your dog's behavior from the beginning of bringing it into our home. We will show you how to maximize your time with a daily training plan, leading to maximizing the investment you have made in your new family member.

E-Touch Method

E-Touch Method™, developed by Martin Deeley, “is not a magic method it is a catalyst which can be incorporated within training approaches to train even better. In training a dog we may use food, verbal rewards, tactile rewards, or whatever. The e-collar is a tool that can be added to the mixture to create something special. BUT the main principles of good dog training do not disappear, we stay creative, we do not depend on the e-collar for everything, there is no one best approach, it is not a race to see who can train the fastest. And most of all we work within the temperament and pace of the dog – reading the dog, and by doing so maintaining a true companion relationship is essential.
